UPDATE: Pence may feel great, but an MRI exam revealed a strained patella tendon and he’s not in the lineup today.  According to Jim Salisbury of the team is hoping he can play at some point over the weekend.

Hunter Pence missed Game 2 of yesterday’s doubleheader after limping around with knee soreness in Game 1, but woke up today feeling good and naturally tweeted his own injury update:

Knee is feeling great everyone thanks for your concern. Excited to get back at it today. No complacency.

Pence has played through knee problems all season and manager Charlie Manuel said that he “was wanting to play” in Game 2, but the Phillies thought better of it. It was the first game Pence has missed since leaving the Astros.

Purely precautionary. According to Pence, “”The good news is I could play today, but we’re trying to make the best decision and this is what we feel is the best.”

Please be telling the truth Phillies organization!! Any Phillies fan knows that it always starts as “day to day” and ends up weeks on the DL. The offense is going through one of its several dead stages it goes through every year and Pence is about the only threat at this point.

This isn’t an Utley situation where he is nowhere to be found and certainly won’t be forthcoming to the media. Pence has said he is fine and could play today. No worries about this.

Heck even Pence was hitting into DPs, he could use a couple of days off.

Bastardo is tipping his pitches. I’m not 100% sure what he is doing, but he is tipping them.
