Instead, DM traded Leo Nunez to Florida for HGH freak Mike Jacobs. IMO, the worst move DM has made as Royals GM (Guillen and Meche actually produced for at least a season or 2).

With Hosmer and Butler there really is no room for Kila on KC’s team today. But it would have been nice to give him a shot to succeed or fail back in 09…

Especially a team that could really use a surprise performance, like the Pirates.

But I’ve been surprised before.

And I also remember feeling the same way about Jeff Clement, Andy LaRoche, Dallas McPhearson, Lastings Milledge, Chris Snelling, Roberto Petagine…

That doesn’t even include pitchers, or all the Giants prospects I’ve been irrationally excited about. Todd Linden, Damon Minor, Calvin Murray, Tony Torcato (I mean, seriously, with that name, how did that guy NOT become an all-star?), Eddy Martinez-Esteve…

So maybe I’m just an optimist. Or an idiot.
