I haven’t actually counted, but this is probably like the 857th time this season I’ve been grateful that Omar Minaya is long-gone. I bet he would have made that trade giving no thought to the possibility of Capuano being a Type-B free agent.

The Yankees would like nothing better than to knock Boston out of the playoffs, but I don’t know if they’ll go at it in high gear or let their players get rest for the playoffs. The Rays with a little help could pass them for the wild card. It ought to be an interesting last week.

I’ve been thinking about Sunday’s Start. The Sox could no worse than Lackey by running Matt Fox or even Alex Wilson out there on Sunday. Admittedly that would be totally out of character but a guy like Wilson had some impressive number this season and brings 92-95.

Not letting Lackey start and using a relief corps instead would be desperation. Trading for Capuano is smart baseball.
