He is a St Charles (20 minutes from Busch) native and has always said he would move back after baseball if he didn’t get a chance to play with the Cardinals eventually. Fans always fall in love with local products and he seems like the kind of guy that would take a little less to play where he wants on what should be a good (for the NL Central) Cardinals team now that we have 5 starters, our outfield wrapped up (if we stick with Jay) and a good defensive shortstop (9th inning yesterday notwithstanding).

This would leave a great situation to have Westbrook in case someone goes down. Be it Waino not being healthy or Carp or Lohse having more issues we always seems to need an extra arm. And McClellan could prepare to be a fixture in the bullpen instead of being jerked around.

Now its just up to the Dewitts to open the pocketbook to get him and keep Pujols.

Get narveson out of there. Lock up a pitcher with the impending doom that Greinke doesn’t sign. You can use the money that you would have paid Fielder to pay Buehrle.

It makes just as much sense. You can always find bats in baseball. You aren’t as lucky to find pitchers.
