Here is why Ben Francisco makes it over Dom Brown for the guys above. When the opposing team starts a left hander, Mayberry Jr. will get the start in LF. In that scenario, who is the RH pinch hitter with pop if no Francisco? Regardless of circumstance, Ross Gload is ahead of Brown in the PH pecking order. You can disagree with the logic behind that, but it is a fact.

Exactly. Our starters should all go at LEAST 6, if not 7. Kendrick/Worley can each go 2 at least. In fact, ideally, even Stutes/Bastardo wouldn’t need to pitch unless we’re up by more than 3 runs or someone is getting shelled and the game is lost. Lidge and Madson have cemented themselves as the 8/9th inning guys in my opinion.

The only conceivable rationale for putting Herndon on the roster is if the Phillies were planning on throwing a couple of games. Even Blanton doesn’t make sense. If either of those guys gets in a game, it’s already lost.

It’s hard to prove anything when they call you up and just let you rot on the bench. I hope they trade Brown to a team that will appreciate him.

I agree that Blanton is pitching himself into the post-season. Bastardo is still in by virtue of the fact that he’s left-handed and the possibility that he will recover his mojo in time for the playoffs. I hope he’s able to correct whatever is ailing him, even Stutes seems to have bounced back somewhat.

For now though, we’ll be living on the Ledge for the Postseason, so bring your heart pills and your most absorbent diapers boyz & galz! (And I say that with mostly amusement and appreciation for Brad… mostly)

this isn’t exactly “news” that dom brown wasn’t going to make the roster. the team has previously stated he’s going to instructional leagues during the playoffs and then his season is done, i think october 15th

I wasn’t saying you were wrong as much as ranting about Francisco. Didn’t mean to imply that I was arguing with you. In reality you are correct. Brown hasn’t done enough to knock anyone off. I just can’t stand guys like Francisco so I take every opportunity to rip them.

trigzter, you did enough to knock off Francisco. My cat did enough to knock off Francisco. Francisco is horrible. One track swing, trying to pull everything out of the park. Once in a while the ball finds his bat and it looks so pretty when it flies out. Then we have to soend the next 2 weeks hearing “thats what they thought they were getting when they got him from Cleveland. Charlie really thinks this guy can hit!”.
