Besides, you had a perfectly good well aged SS in Miguel Tejada, why would you want some inexperienced punk like Rollins?

Phillies fans, meet Freddy Galvis!! Yikes…5 years? He’s still productive but for any fans who watch him play every night it’s obvious the speed is down and he’s just a hot and cold .265 hitter anymore, if that. Can Galvis match his production? Probably not but the savings of millions if you go with Galvis and the other pieces you can add with those savings might make up for the difference for the team overall. what’s he going to want, 8 to 10 million a year? Maybe even more? Give me a .250 hitting defensive gem in Galvis and save that money for other contracts or a trade deadline pick-up. I’d hate to see the team lose Rollins’ personality but it may be time to cut and run.

Reyes has some seriously stupid looking facial hair. I don’t think the Phills would want such a big stupid head on their team.j/k Rollins will get 3-4 years @ around 10 per from Philly.

Reyes is a tough call. I’m not going to say if they should or shouldn’t, but I will say that Madson will not be the reason they don’t sing him. At least I hope not. “I’m OK with the money Reyes is asking for, but I just don’t think I can let Madson go. He’s too important.”

Doubtful. While Reyes is a great player, he is hurt way too much. Plus he will want way more money than the Phillies have to spend. Especially if they want to resign Madson.

I don’t know why, but this popped into my head as soon as I read Rollins’ quote.

3 years is perfect for the Phillies. Galvis is only 21 and just starting to grow as a hittter (if this season is any indication). Another year or 2 in the minors than a year (or 2) as a bench player/ spot starter, and then he’s the Phils shortstop moving forward.

Those issues are not issues Brian Sabean would worry about. No injury, old age, or ridiculous contract demands can hold Sabean back from a proven veteran. Brian Sabean will get his man.

If the Brewers are smart enough not to give Fielder too many years at too high a salary, they sure as heck are smart enough not to give Rollins more than 3 years (at which point you’ll be lucky to get league average production when he’s healthy).

5 years is certainly too long for him at this point. The ideal situation for the Phillies would be a 3 year deal. That should take them right up to the end of their window to compete.

Brewers would pull the trigger if they dont land Prince next season because the SS situation in FA and in their team is pretty bleak. SS is a hot commodity right now. Not many decent ones available.

Yikes! 5 years? I love the guy, but hasn’t he been injured enough recently to make most teams go 3-4 years max? He still has it though when he isn’t hurt, even though any team signing him needs a bench SS to make up for his down time.
