Look at what Marco Scutaro did now

Sep 28, 2011, 9:29 PM EDT

Marco Scutaro

It’s Scutaro overload night on HBT.

Check out the outstanding flip to start a double play in the bottom of the sixth and help Boston hold on to a 3-2 lead Wednesday against the Orioles.

Dustin Pedroia‘s effort is also worthy of note.  The Red Sox got out with their lead intact even though Jon Lester walked three batters in the inning.

Unfortunately, it looks like this will be our last Marco moment for a bit.  The Red Sox and Orioles have gone to a rain delay before the bottom of the seventh.  It’s decent timing for Boston, since Lester was coming out anyway.  It’s 3-2 Boston, with the Red Sox needing nine more outs.

It’s been the middle infield show tonight for the Sawx. That double play is prima fascia evidence why Pedroia is so great at the pivot. He had less than a second to catch the ball (with his back to 1B), make sure his foot is on the bag, and turn and throw to 1b just in time to beat the runner.

Dustpan also hit the go ahead home run. Just Pedey being Pedey.

Pedroia could very well be the next captain of this team and deserves it!!

I’d say he pretty much is at this point anyway…Varitek’s a great guy but he’s like the Captain Emeritus.

Pedroia will almost certainly have a “C” on his chest one day.

Marco just got thrown out at home in the top of the 8th. Only thing that hasn’t gone right for him tonight.

Turns out Scutaro stopping between 2nd and 3rd and then watching the throw got him thrown out at the plate. Oops, the Sox lose in the 9th. So many moments to try and forget in Boston.
