your a dousche, it is important for homefield advantage in the NL playoffs. A loss last night = Brewers homefield. The win only kept them in the hunt for homefield and may have effected all of the playoff matchups for the NL.

this was not a world series game. I guess I give it a “kinda funny,” But really this game was just a tad more important than than a spring training game, so I don’t give it “awesome”

Not really. they got career years out of a lot of guys, no injuries that didn’t help them. and got a couple of blown calls in their favor that lead to runs in the playoffs.

Not much of a stretch really.

Didn’t anyone else notice Roberts’ fist pumps (six of them) while circling the bases and remember D-backs manager Kirk Gibson doing the same thing in 1988 after hitting a walk-off home run for the Dodgers in Game One of World Series?

One observation: San Francisco depended on a San Diego collapse to get to the post-season. It’s not like they dominated their way into October. Without the Padres faltering they go nowhere. The difference between this year and last? The Diamonbacks didn’t collapse.

This is why that MLV.TV deal they dangle after the All Star break is the best damn buy in America. $24.99 for every game for the rest of the season (and access to all the previous ones). Heard about this game this morning on ESPN radio and got to watch that last inning when I got to my desk this morning. Hell, I might have paid $24.99 just to see that one inning! The only thing I love more than the Phillies is Baseball, the game. And endings like this one are the reason why.

I’ll admit that I haven’t been following baseball super closely this year, but calling a the Giants year a “fluke” seems a bit much. Were they truly the best team in baseball? Probably not. But they were still very good last year (excellent pitching and below-average offense), and they were good this year: excellent pitching, terrible offense. And they are only 3 games back of the wild card, which is just a bit more than the difference between Buster Posey and his replacements.

If they’ve been keeping it up all season what makes you think they can’t keep it up in the playoffs?

After all, they won the season series against the Brewers.

What’s amazing to me is there have been hundreds of thousands of MLB baseball games, and this is the 2nd or 3rd time a walk-off grand slam has won the game when the winning team was down by 3 runs.

That’s vacant lot when you were kids with old tires as baes type stuff. Someone built a house on the vacant lot that I played on as a kid. The owner wasn’t very happy when my brother and I started hitting baseballs at the house. We told him he built his house on our baseball field and he would just have to deal.

No question like the Giants last year the Dbacks are the flavor of the year. They have been getting breaks and playing over their heads all year. Career years, guys playing over their heads, no key injuries have led to a fluke year. I believe the bubble will burst for them in the 1st round of the playoffs. They don’t-have the pitching the Giants did last year to win it all.

When was the last time that 8 games mattered in the playoff scheduling on the last day of the season? There isn’t a single playoff series set up yet. Not one. I don’t remember this ever happening. I guess technically, it has to be some kind of record, right?
