It may or may not be the hitting coaches fault, but 1 thing the Padres struggled with regardless of where they play their home games is… Strike Outs. I could be wrong, but they have to be tops in the league with strike outs and maybe a new set of eyes can correct things in mechanics and make improvements in that category.

Exactly, see Dave Magadan. Gone from the Padres next season picked up by Red Sox, WS champs. Gee Petco vs. Fenway. That and the Sox spend a wee bit more on their hitters, but apparently not enough on their Pitching.

Sorry but the San Diego fans haven’t left. Attendance in San Diego was up slightly from last year in spite of a significantly inferior team from a year ago.

San Diego is the 8th largest city in the US. It’s local economy is rooted in the Military, tourism, agriculture, and entertainment which should be minimizing the recessions impact. It has a great new ballpark. Just on attendance the Padres only need to average $21 per fan to meet payroll.

Now throw in revenue sharing and television revenue and you have another owner crying “poor poor pitiful me” all the way to the bank. There is no way San Diego should be able to pretend they lack the money to support a bigger payroll.

Hitting Coach is still the sweetest position in the world. If your players hit, you’re great. If they don’t, you suck. Pretty sure I would be an awesome hitting coach with the Yankees and a terrible hitting coach with the Padres. Gotta love it.

Good to see that heads are rolling! This will make all the difference in the world.

When you put your team together with scraps from a dumpster and get rid of your only quality hitter (Adrian), it probably doesn’t matter who the hitting coach is.

Let the fans know when you’re going to field a legitimate, major league quality team and maybe they’ll come back.

Absolutely clueless organization.
