Josh Hamilton on facing David Price at The Trop: “It sucks”

Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton, a No. 1 overall selection of the Rays back in 1999, is not looking forward to returning to Tropicana Field on Monday for Game 3 of the ALDS. And he is not looking forward to facing Tampa Bay left-hander David Price.

“In the dome, it sucks,” Hamilton said. “I was messing with [Price] at the All-Star Game and said, ‘I hope we get to face you some time in Texas.’ But you got to take it as it comes, just try to go over there and battle him. He’s similar to Matt Moore, but Price throws a little heavier ball.”

It’s not typically wise to dabble in small sample sizes, but for the sake of this post Hamilton is just 2-for-13 (.154) lifetime against Price and a .172/.246/.293 career hitter in 15 total games at “The Trop.”

The Rays and Rangers are tied 1-1 in their five-game American League Division Series.

No doubt, the Tropicana Dump sucks. But look at it this way: would you rather see Josh Hamilton playing in the Tumulus, or – imagine this – that bipedal Gaboon viper Kevin Yukilis in the dome: the ugliest stadium and the ugliest ballplayer in designatedhitterball, at the same time. As my old acquaintance, the cockaroach from the future, once said, “No kud be such ugly.”

“the ugliest stadium and the ugliest ballplayer in designatedhitterball, at the same time.”

Ogando WILL be at the Trop. Now imagine if Ogando were traded to Bahst’n and forced to grow terrible facial hair like their entire roster! That would be the baseball homeliness equivalent of ‘crossing the streams.’

“the ugliest stadium and the ugliest ballplayer”

Youk plays at that abortion Fenway 81 times a year, so check, and check.

I think all those drugs must have scrambled Hamilton’s brain…or at least given him the same amnesia that Guy Pierce had in Memento…

    Last year’s ALDS…IN THE DOME…

    Game one: Price’s line 6 2/3 IP 9 hits 4 Earned…LOSS
    Game five: Price’s line 6 IP 8 hits 3 Earned…LOSS

Now, Price didn’t pitch terrible, but a 5 ERA isn’t anything to be worried about a year later, is it?

Because a sample size of 2 games seperated by a year is a good indicator of future success and failure. Sheesh.

I wonder if he needs special contacts to play inside a dome.

no contacts needed when you miss 30+ games and are still among league leaders in most categories offensively
