That was small sample-size based sarcasm.

Craig is getting benched because he is RH and so is Oswalt...no idea why an iffy Holliday is better than a healthy Craig....but that is why Jay and Skip and Furcal are in the lineup tonight and not Theriot or Craig....I'm just amazed that Descalso isn't in there instead of Freese.

Hopefully, it all works out.

Taking out Puljos and Theriot (who is getting benched, apparently), there is nobody on your team batting above .250, except ofr Furcal who is batting .286 with the exact same OBP (Horrible for a leadoff man, and about .090 less than Craig's OBP). Unless you are planning on benching 6 guys tonight, I think you are making too much out of 3 games against GREAT pitchers

Holladay is a big name for a reason, and all things being equal, is by far the first choice of anyone the Cards can trot out there. However, all things are not equal. Holladay has a bad hand, and could not only have trouble throwing the ball, but turning on a fast ball (won't be Brad Lidge *aka the man with no fastball* pitching tonight) while hitting. Add to that the fact that Theriot is batting .667, including a few clutch RBI hits, I'll take that trade as a Phillies fan.

I can see keeping him on the roster, but with as well as his replacements have played this series, I would leave him out and let them do their thing. If they can get to the NLCS, he could be available then. Seems to me like another instance of TLR's need to tinker. Worked OK in game 2, not so well in game 3. I guess we'll see in game 4

I guess we are tempting the baseball gods to strike us down but I agree that this may not be bad news at all for the Phillies. Allen Craig looks like a pretty good player so I may take an injured Holliday playing against the Phillies instead. Of course Holliday will now likely hit 2 homeruns.

This is good news for the Phillies. With Holliday's hand issue, throwing the ball from the outfield will be a major issue. Defensively, the Cards take a hit with Holliday starting.
