Should be interesting. Both were first round picks by the Jays many moons ago. Carpenter kept getting injured so the Jays decided to remove him from the 40 man roster. He elected to try free agency and was signed by St. Louis even though they knew that he would have to miss the upcoming season due to injury. Subsequently, when McGowan got injured and had to miss 3 seasons, the Jays, having learned a lesson, decided to keep him on the 40 man roster. McGowan should be an effective starting pitcher for the Jays next year.
