NLDS Game 5 Live Chat: Cardinals vs. Phillies

Oct 7, 2011, 8:20 PM EDT

Charlie Manuel

It all comes down to this. Another win-or-go-home game in the division series, this time between the Cardinals and the Phillies.

Chris Carpenter will take on Roy Halladay tonight, which is pretty much one of the sweetest matchups you can ask for in a deciding game.

Looking for lineups? We have you covered right here.

The chat should get underway just before first-pitch, which is scheduled for a little after 8:30 p.m ET.

Just got home from a somber mancave watching that disgrace of a lineup hit grounder after grounder against Cy Carpenter.

Hats off to the Cardinals and their fans. Definitely a great series and good luck in the next round.

The lineup is obviously too full of itself and some major changes are needed for NinJr. I was all for bringing back Rollins, but now, I say give the kid Galvin a shot. Looks like Howard may have an achillies tear….which would put him out for 2012 so the Phillies may go…

    2008 WS Champs
    2009 WS Loss
    2010 NLCS Loss
    2011 NLDS Loss
    2012 NO PLAYOFFS!!!

Each and every one of these players should feel like shit after a performance like this. This choke job is worse than the Red Sox and Braves COMBINED. Anybody who says any different is lying to themselves. I waited since the day they signed Cliff Lee for this, and both Lee and the lineup did nothing but choke. I don’t want to hear any shit about 102 wins and it was a fun ride and great season…blah blah. That’s all nothing but horseshit. This season is the single biggest failure in the history of the franchise.

Thanks for listening HBT. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs. See you when pitchers and catchers report.

See you next year Chris. I agree with you….most disappointing ending yet.

So who are you pulling for now, Dr.? I will be rooting for the Texas Rangers because I really like the way Josh Hamilton carries himself on, and off, the field

This reminds me of when the Colts laid down and let the Jets into the playoffs. Only difference is the Colts took the Jets out after they knocked out two other teams.

Congrats to the Cardinals. This blows and sucks big time…kinda like the bats. Hopefully Mr. Lucky’s Achillies is not ruptured or torn, ’cause that might take him out for next season, too. Now, I need an adult beverage or 10.
