he had oblique muscle strain after coming up to cards from memphis,tn AAA club wnt on DL after pitching in couple of cards relief innings….was a starter in memphis and is VERY good pitcher….we will see alot more of him i feel as we go deep in playoffs and in 2012

I wasn’t surprised by the omission of Sanchez….just disappointed. Sanchez stuff is way better than McClellan or Lynn

McLellan since 9/1: 12 appearances, 54 batters faced, 11 batters with either a walk or a home run. (1.032 OPS against).

He pitched great out of the pen in 2010, but I wonder if all the innings in the rotation prior to the acquisition of Edwin Jackson has worn him down… he doesn’t seem to have velocity, movement, or command.

I’m a little surprised at the omission of Sanchez as well. Though he only made one appearance after coming off the DL, he looked like he had his lock-down stuff back; maybe the arm’s not as solid as it seemed to be. I’m delighted to see Lance Lynn back and hoping that McClellan’s main function, if indeed he’s still serving up junk, will be to mop up irredeemable messes in order to spare the other arms in the pen.

He’s been injured the past month or so (oblique?).

And yes, he looked great before then. Great stuff, and great control. Exactly what you want coming out of the pen.

I was hoping the additions would be Lynn and Eduardo Sanchez.

McClellan has been a batting practice pitcher the last six weeks. If he comes in, especially with runners on base, a multi-run inning may ensue…

We saw Lance Lynn playing the Reds. He looks very good from here. I don’t know why he wasn’t on the roster until now, but he shut down the Reds very easily. I think he won the game too. Where did he come from?

Starting to wonder about Westbrook. Injured? In the doghouse? Or just the odd man out. If Lynn can pick up where he left off after his injury he can be a real plus. McClellan struggled down the stretch, but was dealing with an overburdened arm. Hopefully, the rest has cured that.
