aces.... nice post, but I think Tito was the fall guy in Boston. That guy is nothing but class, to the game, to his players and to the team (Boston) he managed. I hope the best for him, and which ever team that's smart enough to pick him up will be fortunate to have him. Good luck to him.

Even as a Red Sox fan, I can't find much to fault Cashman for. The guy does a competent job year in, year out...and compared to the circus that Boston degenerated into, the Yankees are models of professionalism and restraint.

It would be nice to see Granderson cut down on Ks but as long as he's hitting 30-40 Hrs I think the Yankees will take it, .. sort of like Teixeira. Regardless, Granderson seemingly has an excellent work ethic so if something can be done about he'll do it.

Frankly, I think it might help if the Yankees could convince Teixeira to at least try to go the other way when the shift is on against him. I get the feeling that Teixeira, like Giambi before him, was told that it was his responsibility to hit HRs and not worry about average. His BA was consistently higher before he started playing for the Yankees and aiming for the left field wall.

Unless they find a better option Swisher isn't likely to go anywhere. I don't think that option exist internally so I'd think Swisher is a lock for next season and perhaps beyond.

Posada won't be back but he'll make way for Montero. Jones, might well stick around as a 4th OFer unless again there is an internal option.

Well said, they got a lot more out of what they had than most people thought they would, that being said , they need two reliable starting pitchers, and somehow cut down on the strikeouts in that line-up. I don't remember seeing a Yankee team strikeout as much as this team. That's what cost them the series with the Tigers, and I'm not pointing the finger at A-rod, Swisher was swinging at balls a foot out of the strike zone and letting balls down the middle go past him. Those two aren't the only ones, most on that team strike out way too much. I think Swisher will be replaced, so will Andruw Jones, and Posada won't be back, but Granderson, while hitting a lot of home runs needs to also cut down on the K's.

It's probably occurred to them that there's no one to blame. Blame Cashman for offering Lee more money and getting turned down? Blame Girardi for getting 97 wins out of a starting staff with 2 competent pitchers? Blame A-Rod for playing hurt? Even mega-millionaires and Corporate Persons aren't quite that stupid.

Thats some good news during these tough times. Cashman has done well during his tenure as gm. It's also refreshing to see some civility and not seeking a scapegoat like a certain city a little to the north.
