Avila will see absolutely NO pitches hitting in front of Jackson.
And the reason they moved Cabrera to 1st is because he was BRUTAL at 3rd. The smarter thing to do would be to put Avila in LF/RF, Victor at C and leave Miggy where he is.
Or, Avila could in a pinch played 3rd as he did at Alabama.

Leyland seems to have pushed all the right buttons this year, and his platoon lineups have worked out pretty well, so I have complete faith that he will make the right moves.

Weren't they practicing Cabrera at third and Martinez at first for a world series scenario? I say Move them to those positions put Kelly in left and have Delmon DH. Put Jackson in the 9 spot and Move kelly or Santiago into the leadoff spot. Take some pressure off Jackson and get a running on base earlier in the lineup.

My projected lineup would be

Kelly LF
Santiago 2B
Kelly DH
Cabrera 3B
Martinez 1B
Peralta SS
Dirks/Raburn RF
Avila C
Jackson CF

I honestly feel this is the best way to get the Tigers back into the series. By moving Avila and Jackson down in the lineup you remove pressure and tend to see better pitches.
