This complaint about NY/Boston publicity is overplayed by now. True or not in general, in this case it makes no sense.

There are 20 posts on this page. 10 of them are about this year's playoffs in one form or another. There are two about the White Sox managerial situation, one about the Angels reorganization and another about the Nationals coaching staff. One is about Norris critiquing Brian Wilson, another about Selig's plans for more playoff teams and one about a Pirate pitcher having surgery.

Finally, there are two posts about the Phillies and one about Boston. Where Theo goes is really news, and in this case it involves the possibility of him going to Chicago. There have been numerous stories and rumors about Friedman also. Complaining that one of 20 stories concerns Epstein and a possible move is nonsensical.

"Those things are supposed to be kept private and we have a policy of not discussing whether permission has been asked for X or Y, or Z,” Lucchino said. "In fact every year we get requests from people. We never discuss them publicly. It’s been our policy…

“A few years ago we got a request from another team about Theo Epstein, you heard nothing about that because we didn’t discuss it publicly and I think there’s good reason for it too. There are some privacy considerations here. I don’t know that people would want their career development or their job decisions to be debated publicly or for people to know what they’re considering or not considering and I’m not sure the other team would like that to be made public, so our consistent policy and practice has been not to discuss whether there’s been a request made."

Henry added: “There is a certain protocol in this game and it is if someone asks permission for a job that’s not lateral, you give them permission.”

Lucchino then reiterated that this was one subject where they don’t think there needs to be full disclosure.

Who cares about these stupid playoffs?

What's going to happen with Cashman and Epstein?

And then who are the Red Sox and Yankees going to overpay to play for them?

This is the real "Fall Classic" that has been going on in the national media for 30 years unless the Red Sox or Yankees go to the WS.....then it starts the following week.

By the way, aren't the Angles looking for a GM? Got any stringers that that story? Even consider it a story? I mean sure, the Angles are in the major leagues and they play in a large markets......but hey, they'e not the RED SOX or YANKEES!
