Astros right-hander Bud Norris tweeted his review of Brian Wilson‘s new Taco Bell commercial, which is now running non-stop during the ALCS and NLCS:

Yeah, it’s not even good at being quirky, it’s just outright lousy, and I’ve only suffered through it twice.

  2. clydeserra - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:35 PM

Say what you will about the content, but Wilson himself nailed the acting bit.

    • nixonotis - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:48 PM

      What acting?

  3. bloodysock - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:36 PM

The commercial and Wilson’s acting is even worse than the product it’s advertising.

  4. badmamainphilliesjamas - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:38 PM

The thought of that beard anywhere near food . . .

    • hep3 - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:41 PM

… and how about that commercial about his beard with the fiddler and dancers. Enough! I will never eat at Taco Bell again.

  5. phillyphreak - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:38 PM

Unfortunately for Wilson, the role of Zach Galifianakis has already been filled.

  6. jasonc2300 - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:45 PM

    But he’s black ops!

  7. shawnuel - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:51 PM

    Wilson’s acting is……enthusiastic!

  8. sdelmonte - Oct 11, 2011 at 1:53 PM

Don’t blame Wilson. He got hired to do this and it won’t harm his pitching if he can’t act. Might even help, if it disabuses him of the notion he will have a career in Hollywood. (I am convinced that Shaq only made it to the next level because his film career was such a dud.)

Unfortunately, Bud Norris is guilty of impersonating a Major League pitcher.

    • El Bravo - Oct 11, 2011 at 2:32 PM

FYI- I like to call him ‘Buddy No-No’. Not sure why. Sounds fun, but he needs to pitch a no-hitter I guess before it really sticks.

    • aarcraft - Oct 11, 2011 at 3:56 PM

Quite an impersonation. 3.77 ERA, with 172 strikeouts in 186 innings. I wish I could impersonate anything that well.

I’m so tired of Wilsons act…

  11. APBA Guy - Oct 11, 2011 at 2:34 PM

The Black Ops reference is evidently to a video game. Since the baseball audience skews older, I’m not sure the ad is connecting.

  12. winkeroni - Oct 11, 2011 at 3:01 PM

The thing I like most about closer and Taco Bell Brian Wilson is that nobody will ever confuse him as singer/song writer Brian Wilson.

I did find the one commercial I saw with Brian Wilson in it, mildly entertaining. If Bud Norris is correct, I look forward to seeing the other Taco Bell commercials he’s in.

I thought he was going to shave that squirrel’s nest when the Giants were eliminated from playoff contention.

  14. slavetothetrafficlight - Oct 11, 2011 at 9:29 PM

Ah, next year he’ll pitch like Guillermo Mota and his acting days will be over.

  15. stampofdisapproval - Oct 12, 2011 at 12:07 PM

Wilson is nothing more than an attention seeker, hoping to parlay his playing career into something more. My guess is he was ignored as a child.
