However I also believe that a new hitting coach is imperative. I know GG has a history with the team, and that Charlie was a hitting coach, but somebody has to teach most of that lineup about getting post-season quality at-bats and about avoiding group hitting slumps. And Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown have to learn to hit lefties.

They may have a ways to go, but when they take the mound they a confidence, an air of (positive) cockiness. I think Kendrick has some decent talent, but he doesn’t have the confidence that these others have. I think that may come from Nichols. Another thought as a future pitching coach, Jamie Moyer? Just throwing it out there.

I totally agree, give him a job in Lakewood…or as FAR from Philly as possible and sign a good replacement pitching coach. The Phillies seriously need to consider bringing in Baez as a bullpen coach. The man corrected some of Bastardo’s mechanical flaws just from watching video in Florida! Of course, this is what leaks through in the press. It could very well be we are selling Dubee short and he’s actually helped the staff. There are many things you don’t hear or read about throughout an entire 162 game season. But most of the stuff I have been reading paints an unflattering picture of the coach.

Either this guy is really bad or he’s had some seriously awful P.R.

Dubee is useless. All the stories that floated throughout the year of various pitchers having mechanical problems, not once was Dubee the man to fix it. It was the AAA pitching coach, Roy Oswalt, and the man they should hire as bullpen coach Danys Baez. In fact, Dubee was scoffing at some of the suggestions only to see them work. His method of dealing with certain pitchers (Kyle Kendrick) is through intimidation. Perfect example, in Toronto Dubee goes to the mound to have a stern talking to with Kendrick…in summation he said, don’t throw the ball over the plate to Joey Bats. Kyle, scared to death of getting roughed up by Dubee again, proceeds to throw the ball right down the middle of the plate. Honestly, I hope Dubee leaves…need a real pitching coach out there. And I don’t want to hear this crap about the great staff he oversaw. A stuffed panda bear could have lead that staff to an ERA around 3.
