It’s the Shaq syndrome. Why screw up your vacation (off season) having surgery? Wait until you’re back on the clock, then take sick time (go on the DL). It’s the American way

I totally agree. The worst stuff is when they wait and wait and wait and finally go under the knife late enough that the recovery stretches well into the next season. If the surgery is going to work, just do it and start rehab over the winter so you’re ready by Spring Training.

Ask Arrieta about not getting surgery, or Luke Scott. Get it fixed and come to spring training healthy.

It boggles my mind that players will refuse minor surgery in the offseason.
