Victor Martinez expects to play today

Oct 12, 2011, 8:44 AM EDT

Detroit Tigers' Martinez runs bases after hitting a solo home run against the Texas Rangers in Game 3 in their MLB American League Championship Series baseball playoffs in Detroit

Tigers’ DH Victor Martinez tweaked his oblique when he hit that home run in the fourth inning of last night’s game.  But he told the Detroit Free Press last night that he expects to play in Game 4 this afternoon.  Well, most likely anyway:

Q: Are you positive you’ll play tomorrow (this afternoon’s Game 4)?

A: “The only way that I don’t play tomorrow is if I wake up and I’m dead. That’s going to be the only way that I don’t play tomorrow.”

I hate waking up to find out that I’m dead. Kind of ruins the rest of the day.

I’d take a dead V Mart over a live Wilson Betemit.

Disapointed that you couldn’t work in a Megadeth reference when Victor set you up so well with what he said…

I sneak in my own house…
      It’s four in the morning…
I’ve had too much to drink…
Said I was out with the boys…

OTOH, considering we don’t know what happens in the after life. It could well be you “wake up” and they tell you: “Dude, you died.” XD

You wake up and are doomed to hell….unless you can defeat Death in a game of Battleship.
