Maybe. I think anything with low scoring, small leads or ties is characterized as a pitching duel. When the pitching isn’t great why not say it’s a “defensive joust” or “offensive anti-onslaught.” Hmmm…better names are needed..

Well…it was as 1 – 0 game. If you can keep them from scoring, you must be pitching well, right? Any how, I’ve always been a bit vague on what exactly constitutes a “pitching duel”. It seems the better the rep of the guy out there, the more likely it gets called a “duel” even if the performance is exactly the same. If Roger Clemens had that line, it was a duel.

I respectfully disagree cur- I don’t think Jackson has been pitching well at all. He’s been hit hard to the track a few times and 7 walks? I’m really surprised the Rangers haven’t scored more runs.

DJ, you think Edwin Jackson has been shaky, but I see the opposite; he’s had some bad moments but basically he’s gone from trouble to out of trouble pretty consistently. You can’t tell a lot about a guy when things are going well. You can though when they aren’t. So far Jackson has shown some grit. I call pitching duel. Doesn’t matter though. he’s + 105 pitches with more than 6 walks. This game will go to the Boggs soon.
