Pretty much a no-brainer for the A’s. While Aaron lumped in 2010 with Wuertz’s 2004-2009 stats, the fact is that 2010 wasn’t particularly good either, a 4.31 over 39.2 innings, with much time lost to injury. That made 2 consecutive seasons of well below league average performance. And if there is a strength in the A’s organization, it is in the arms coming up from the minors. Wuertz’s slot will become the “try-out” slot for guys coming up from AAA.
