Photo of the Day: The Daily News trolls Yankees fans with Sabathia as a Red Sox

Oct 26, 2011, 8:15 AM EDT

This is pretty fantastic. Oh, not the story, which makes absolutely no suggestion that the Red Sox would ever spring for CC Sabathia should he opt out of his deal with the Yankees. It’s just a “hey, what if …” kind of piece that you often see this time of year, especially from papers like the Daily News.

But it’s totally justified for the photo alone, which you just know is going to get under the skin of some folks and cause others — like me, and talk radio guys and other people who love to chatter and taunt and stuff — to go a bit crazy:

Well played, Daily News. Well played.

Reporters are not allowed to criticize blogs etc when there are newspapers printing articles like this. The purpose of this piece of crap is to make a deadline and take up space.

      Why care?

      • Scott Ham - Oct 26, 2011 at 9:54 AM

I live in New York and have to watch rags like the Daily News and the post pretend that they’re actually reporting things. It’s absurd

      See!? It’s working already!!!

CC’s agent should find the guy that photoshoped that and shak ehis hand. he just earned CC at least another 5-10MIl

By the expression on CC’s face it looks like he’s pissed because someone already finished off all the beer and fried chicken in the Sox clubhouse.

We’re sick of talking about the World Series. Been doing if for a week now.

    BBBoooorrrrriiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg!

TMZHardballTalk doesn’t care about the games, or what’s going on on the field of play.

what’s going on on the field of play.

And what’s going on the field of play right now genius? Oh wait, you’re just whining, again….

      • Alex K - Oct 26, 2011 at 10:59 AM

You didn’t know that both grounds crewsKILLED it yesterday. They cut the heck out of the grass, watered the field like real pros, and put the tarps on in a very gritty manner. Basically, they cared for the field the right way and didn’t disrespect anyone while doing it.

    • yankeefanincolo - Oct 26, 2011 at 10:11 AM

What, just because there is a World Series going on means that is all we can talk about until it is over? Should I also not watch my other favorite TV shows until the Series is over because that would mean I “don’t care about the games or what’s going on on the field of play”?

I don’t think Yankee fans should be too concerned about which uniform CC is wearing if it’s not a Yankees uniform.

They should be just as frightened by seeing him in a Rangers uniform, or Cubs uniform, or a Pawnee Recreational Softball League uniform.

It isn’t CC that should scare them at all, it’s the guy who will be wearing the Yankees uniform in CC’s place if he’s not there that should scare Yankee fans.

    This looks shopped.

I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
