Kevin Gray of the New Hampshire Union Leader wrote a good article about new Red Sox general manager (and New Hampshire native) Ben Cherington, including this picture of the GM attending his first game at Fenway Park as a 5-year-old in 1979:

    Was there a shirt shortage in 1979?

      Yeah. This was during the 1979 oil crisis. Because commerce was very expensive because gas prices were so high, people did without many necessities, especially shirts.

        Unfortunately not, cur. That phase actually occurred in the 60’s, with the bra burning revolution. Too bad we weren’t around to reap the benefits.
