Wallace Matthews is a moron so lets start there.

The Yankees need pitching not OFers. They certainly don’t need a RFer that is older a more injury prone then their current RFer and MORE expensive at that.

Even the RS who need a RFer don’t need a broken down one that’s a hard swing and a miss from the DL.

Beltran my well have options but unless he’s willing to sacrifice earnings the Yankees and the RS are among them.

2 – WORST RELIEF PITCHERS – Salas is totally useless as are most of his buddies

What are the odds the Yankees are stating interest publicly about Beltran, only to raise the price for another team that really wants him? Cashman may want to tell the Steinbrothers that he will only sign a new contract if they stay out of any negotiations for Beltran. Injury history is too risky, but a one- or two-year deal would be palatable. He’ll probably get a longer contract from someone, just hope it’s not the Yanks.

Beltran deserves a megacontract after the season he had. I’d love to have him back on the Giants, but if they have enough money to pursue Beltran, I’d much rather they sign a shortstop (Reyes? Rollins? Uhhh… Scutaro? I dunno). Also the starters are gonna need new contracts soon.
