This man is well respected in the Phillies clubhouse and is a great baseball man. Whatever deals/issues you have in that clubhouse, he will take care of.

Case in point: In the later part of the year, when the Phillies were playing the Brewers, Nigel Morgan hit a double to drive in a run against them. He was being a punk at second base, jumping up and down, thrusting his chest, pointing up to the sky with his bullshit antics, etc. I saw Pete Mackanin pissed of as hell and talking to Charlie Manuel about it, in disgust.

Boston fans, this is the type of guy you need for that clubhouse. Smart, fair, but a tough guy that doesn’t take shit.

Just remember, the last manager that you had came from the Phillies in the name of Tito Francona. He did something for you, didn’t he?
