According to the Associated Press, Diamondbacks president and CEO Derrick Hall will undergo surgery for prostate cancer next Tuesday.

Hall, 42, was diagnosed last month after a prostate biopsy revealed cancerous tumors. The encouraging part is that the disease was caught in the early stages and he is expected to make a full recovery.

All the best, Derrick.

Not to get on a soapbox but this story reminds me that November is “Movember” and its a month that focuses on men’s cancer and other illness that afflict men. You can grow a mustache for the month to show support.

Prayers and thoughts with Mr. Hall and his family.

This sucks. My dad and two uncles had prostate cancer, and I’m almost certain to get it, sooner or later. (My understanding is that if you’re male and you live long enough, you’ll get it, too.)

    Best wishes to him.
