Perhaps Cashman knows this and realizes he is more valuable with the Yanks than anything they might get in return. Gotta believe the Yanks would have to eat a lot of contract money for the other teams to bite, which probably reinforces the argument to keep him. He is guaranteed 16.5 each of the next two years.

As for Buehrle, he might make the move to New York, but he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would fit in there. Not a lot of parking spaces for his truck in the Bronx.

Most teams could do better than him by plugging in a good but not great pitching prospect, and unless the Yankees ate almost if not all of his contract, he’s not really tradable. Also, I’m sorry, but that offer for Felix is hilariously not even remotely close.

There are 20 smaller market teams in this league who will always need a guy with an above average arm with name recognition to put people in stands and eat up tons of innings for you. And if that team has a youngish pitcher about to make a 100 million as a free agent in a couple of years that they know they cant afford to keep… Well, aj and say romine, or even Swisher as a package is something every team would listen to.

Like, burnett and romine or Swisher for Felix hernandez is an example of what I mean. I’m not trying to start the dumb trade scenario thread, but I’m just responding to the question of if he’s readable…and I think he’s very tradeable and just giving an example.
