Too much money for not enough production. I don’t mind see Rivera back, but unless he has a pretty big year, that’s way too much for “veterany goodness”.

I’d like to think this is the last move Ned makes as GM, but I know he’ll be in place for awhile longer.

The problem with a signing like this is that it will be treated as a significant move, with the salary invested enough to preclude the Dodgers from getting anything better.

Keep the veteran for the prestige, and pay him enough so we don’t have to pay anyone else.

Rivera runs like a bus with flat tires, is a statue in the outfield, a lousy glove at firstbase and an undisciplined hitter. For $4.5 million are we really sure McCourt is gone?

A player like Reed Johnson would provide more assets at less than one third of the price.

Oops, I guess they still have Ned Colletti in the front office wasting money whenever possible.

I am sure Colletti will make sure Rivera is in the best shape of his life when he gets to spring training, though.

It’s a good signing if Rivera serves as insurance for Jerry Sands in LF and a platoon partner for Loney and/or Ethier. If he ends up starting 125+ games we’re in trouble especially since the pending ownership sale likely means no big signings until next year (although I am still praying for Prince Fielder).

Congratulations to Rivera. It is nice that he has found a home. He was not a fit in Toronto. The Jays only took him because the Angels wanted to dump his contract as part of the Wells trade.
