Some uf us like management that dosen’t run a team like a gambling operation. Yes, the Mets could win it all in 2012. But anyone believibg that is at all likely is delusional. I’d rather reality based management any day of the week as they are more likely to acknowledge how things really are and take steps to fix it over the long term.

Whomever that “official” was for the Mets should be fired immediately. Not for saying that Wright could be traded, but for saying that the team has no chance to win it all in 2012. Who would buy any tickets? We basically just saw the impossible happen with the Cardinals coming back from 10 back in September and one strike away multiple times in game six. In sports, anything can happen, injuries, surprising rookies, career years, trades, free agents, etc. You have to believe that five months before Opening Day that the team you work for has a chance. People with attitudes like this in the organization are a good factor why the Mets have developed the attitude of a loser.

In baseball, you can’t trade for picks, only prospects. A half of a year of injury-prone Reyes gets a team maybe one or two decent prospects at best. However, if they let him walk, they get two draft picks as compensation. It’s not a bad plan.

if they have no plans on trading Reyes, why didnt they unload him last year for a ransonm of picks? This is why they are the Mets…

yeah as a life long Mets fan I can tell you the last 20 years hasn’t been a picnic.. With the exception of the few years like 99, 2000, and 2006, the last 20 years has been a little rough on us..

makes sense to me. I’d hate to see them come back with a basketful of Don Hahns and Bruce Berenyis, though.
