Except the fact that Houston is 260 miles from Arlington and the Astros still might transfer to the AL when all is said and done. Texas is a pretty big state.

Seems like a lame excuse when you consider the Red Sox would at least play in Texas this year whereas the Cubs are in the NL. He prolly didnt wanna deal with the perceived lack of interest that was reported about the Red Sox clubhouse.

Maddux was General Manager Jim Hendry’s Assistant concentrating developing pitchers’ styles and techniques throughout the organization, including minor league affiliates. Not sure what happened to him since Jim Hendry is no longer the GM. Can’t see why you wouldn’t want Mad Dog on your side though.

Maddux doesn’t want the Boston job because of his family like he said. Why do people want to read into things all of the time?

I don’t necessary agree with that. If the Cubs show a little improvement the fans will be quite happy. You know going into Boston that the pressure is playoffs or bust and maybe the whole clubhouse out of control rumors is not something he wants to walk into.

Makes total sense. Instead he prefers the quiet of Chicago, where they don’t expect anything from their Cubbies. The pressure to win will be much greater in Chitown than in Boston this year.
