Volquez? He had problems in Texas, so lets blame them. Harang did not have problems because of Baker. Aaron had they typical problems most pitchers have from time to time, and was able to come back well. His problem was control here. He has good stuff even today, when he gets the ball over the plate. And,, Harang very rarely went over 80-90 pitches. He could and I have seen him pitch as many as 120, but not often.

Wow Metalhead, that’s probably the worst rebuttal I’ve ever heard in my life. “How about Harang, Cueto, Volquez and Ondrusek”? They are all hrt and have been on the dl? THEY’RE PITCHERS MORON! Did u expect a twisted ankle? Maybe an oblique? U can go on the dl for tightness, sore shoulder, sore elbow, blister on the finger, and numerous other reasons. Had nothing to do with Dusty. Some people just shoudnt talk. U are definitely one.

Make a trade with the Nationals, Michael Morse and a relief pitcher prospect for Y. Grandal. Washington needs a catcher, we need a third baseman/ left fielder with a big bat. It’s a perfect match. Votto, Morse, Bruce. Left, right, left batters in the middle of the order. Scott Rolens shoulder is a issue, it’s an insurance policy. Just a suggestion.

how about aaron harrang who never had arm problems before dusty? how about Johnny Cuteo who missed time to start the season because of arm problems and ended the season on the dl. and what about volquez? yea he sucks but still had the surgery while under dusty. andrusek has also missed time due to arm problems. and my reds just might as well schedule the tommy john surgery for chapman now. you know this problem will drag on all spring and right before they break camp they will announce that he needs it. forget being a starter the guy can’t pitch more than 2 innings a game and no more than 2 days in a row in relief so how will he ever make the adj. to starting? this is a organzation that has no idea how to devlop pitching. if they got rid of chapman he would be a all star with another team.

I have made these comments before. The problem with both Wood and Prior is that they never had good arm strengthening. They can not be babied in the bigs. I do think that Dusty leaves some pitchers in a little longer than he should, however if their arms are strong, they will out last He pitches most of the Reds throwers too long, to the teams misfortune, however Cueto still throws at 95 after 115 pitches. Wood and Prior never could do that for long because the arms were not sufficiently strong. Too bad, because they were both outstanding talents.

You don’t understand my comment. He is a set up man now. If his arm doesn’t improve the past problems, he will never be a starter. He can’t start if his arm will not last more than two innings.

Just because you paid a specific price does not mean you should force a player into something. He should do whatever he ends up being best at. I’d rather have him successful and playing no matter if that makes him a starter, closer, or setup man.

We hope that Walt is correct here in Cinti. Otherwise, there was a lot of money wasted on this one man.We have seen Chapman with arm problems before. When he gets back into the pen, he will pitch great for a while and then get bombed, because of shoulder tightness. Is this just arm strengthening or more? We are hoping here, that he will be a starter in the Spring. Otherwise, the Reds paid a lot of money for a set up guy.
