As a baseball fan and caring person, I’m really glad he was found safe and he seems to be OK. I hope we’ll be able to see him play in a game real soon and develops into a good catcher and baseball player in general.

Yeah, how terrible that the kidnappers were captured alive, allowing the authorities to interrogate them and find out if they had any accomplices, how they knew when to grab Ramos, or whether anybody else is being targeted. Wouldn’t want any of that to get in the way of our bloodlust.

I light of that culture/values talk in the original thread, I find it somewhat humorous that the kidnappers are now thought to be Colombian, not Venezuelan. We weren’t even insulting the right culture!

Very glad he’s OK. A very happy ending to a potentially tragic story. Baseball has to do something though about letting Latin American players return home during the off-season. Every year there seems to be another incident of some type, as these players are rich and famous and have targets on their back for extortion and kidnapping, There is rampant lawlessness in many places and from an economic POV, clubs have to protect their investments in these players. And good luck now to MLB teams trying to purchase kidnapping insurance if they have Venezuelan or Central American players on their rosters.

Flip side is that many of these players go home to play winter ball.

That’s the point of our hearing nothing. Their government kept quiet about what they were doing so the kidnappers didn’t see the rescue coming. It’s what they were supposed to do and good for them.

Can’t say how happy I am he’s safe. And he looks like a cross between vin diesel and Bruce Willis in that bullet proof vest.

On a purely human level this obviously fantastic news. For all of us baseball fans, it’s great news because this kid has a hell of a lot of promise as a player. I’m looking forward to seeing how good of a player he develops into.
