He has been scouted, the scouts have deemed him a five tool player. He is entering his prime. He will come at a cheaper price then any of the elite free agents. Thus, he is a lower risk. Currently, this guy is a prospect, not a MLB player. He has never faced pitching anything like he’d see at AA, much less MLB, so he represents risk….and as most people know, the majority of highly touted prospects hit their ceilings somewhere between low A and AAA.

I am not saying the guy won’t be great, just that he is an unknown, having never faced competition as good as the Cape League, and should not be regarded as a major league player….for comparison, the Japanese League is much better than the Cuban one, and we all know how well the vast majority of players that were stars over there have fared at this level. Simply, he’s a risk.
