Twins send Nishioka to the M's for Chone and 90% of his salary. Chone gets a change of scenery, Twins get a decent gloved utility man with speed (your welcome Gardy) and the M's get a raw but talented Japanese shortstop in a market that's definitely more Japanese-player friendly than the mid-west. Oh, and Ichiro will get an assistant to get his coffee and stuff, since it sounds like that's how it works with two Japanese players on the same team. Everyone wins.

There are so many fun things about this post.

1) Teams that need a leadoff man....with an OBP that rivals that of most pitchers.

2) The list of teams the Mariner's are targeting, Reds and Giants...good stuff...it is like they are saying, "we know you guys aren't that bright, look at the shiny lead off man, he's fast!"

3) The fact that the Mariners think anyone in their right mind would trade for this guy...most teams would waste the roster spot on him, much less give anything for him or pay him more than the league minimum.

4) It is called sunk cost, just cut the guy already, giving him playing time just increases the cost.

the Tigers only have a one year $6 million obligation to Inge, while Figgins is owed at least $17 million, plus a vesting option for 2014. I suspect the Mariners would love this deal.

If the M's fail to land Fielder (likely), I'd swap Figgy for the Big Donkey, straight up. The M's would assume $5 million more per year, but that's a bet I'd be willing to make, post-Fielder.

Keep the cash and take Brandon Inge off of our hands. I would love for the Tigres to pick him and Prado up if all it took was a streaky-hitting outfielder with poor defensive skills and another player with an equally bad contract. Hell, I would throw in a guys like Andy Oliver, Ryan Strieby or some other bust of a prospect if that's all it took to get Figgins. In a market so thin you have to take chances like this to win and it's worked with Fister and Young this year. Everybody in Detroit was upset with their acquisitions and the they both blew up. Get 'er done, Dave.
