Jon Heyman — who never fails to note that he’s neighbors with the guy — tweeted that Ivan Rodriguez wants to play in 2012. He also notes that several teams, including the Twins, Cardinals, Phillies, Blue Jays, Orioles, Dodgers and Marlins have expressed interest.

Pudge certainly can’t hit anymore — hasn’t been able to for years — but as long as he still has knees he’ll land one-years deals, I reckon.

Someone has probably lied to Heyman. The Blue Jays would almost certainly not be interested.

Agree. WTF do the Jays want with Pudge? The got a Molina for dog’s sake. That’s all the veteran catcheryness any team needs.

Imagine one day having a Molina with a side of Pudge. ON THE JAYS!!!! #thingsneverimagined

The Jays will get a compensation pick should Molina sign elsewhere, so the Jays are very much in the market; they also have a young catcher who could use some defensive improvement, and who better to help in that than Pudge?

Ah, if only Grumpy had it so good.

    • cur68 - Nov 14, 2011 at 4:00 PM

Grumpy and Pudge on the same club; they can trade off catching. Then sign Jamie Moyer. That right there is the core of a team for the ages…or aged. I’d pay to see that product on the field. The battery of Moyer & Pudge/Grumpy… can you HEAR the hyperbole?

Living in the same city doesn’t qualify as neighbors Jon

He may be about done but he is still a decent catcher and a Hall of famer.

Ok I’m going to start a scratch pad counting the posts that have “is drawing interest” in them…

Phillies should sign him. I realize he was terrible at the plate last season, but would be a massive upgrade over Brian Schneider.

Twins make a lot of sense for Pudge. I would imagine the Twins would be glad to bring him in to replace Butera as the backup to Mauer. They were mentioned as a possible landing place for Pudge on MLBTR a month back.

Pudge > Koyie Hill. I always wanted to see him as a Cub.
