I hear what you are saying Brooklyn. Word is...there could be something inherently wrong with Jose as a Manager specifically. He has had (4) interviews that I know off at this point. I always felt he was being groomed as TLR's eventual replacement. But it didn't happen (the Cardinals job was only the latest he got passed over for). But to his credit (and to potentially shed some light on things)...Jose immediately said he wanted to come back as the 3rd Base Coach. Apparently he wasn't too upset about it. In fact...him immediately stating he wants to come back regardless of the circumstances leads me to believe he knew he wasn't getting the job.
Some guys are just going to be Coaching lifers. Others...not so much.

Oh, he's a terrific manager. But....he is 67 years old. And you have to wonder how much he would have left in the tank if the Tiger miss the playoffs this coming year. Or even if they get knocked out before they reach the Series. This is the 4th team he's managed since 1986. 25 years of managing is a LONG time.

Oquendo has been called a poor communicator, which is why he's been overlooked and passed on.
