Verlander sucks in the playoffs. He is pathetic in the post season as he gets lit up like the scared sucker that he is. Sure he does good in the reg. season but he is a piece of garbage in the playoffs.

COPO, I actually have been having that problem with Firefox more, lately. Been reading it on Chrome ok, although sometimes it does lock up a bit more.

He did… just not first place. this was easily decided before September Verlander was hands down the best pitcher in the league this whole season possibly the last couple seasons. his dominance was out of this world. a first place vote for anyone else would have been incredibly stupid.

1) I NEVER mock players from other teams that do not deserve it except for the Sox for obvious reasons. so i am not sure where you get that or “most biased Yankee fan” from. I am obviously a biased Yankees fan in the respect that they are my team and I love them. I have been saying on many many HTB posts that Verlander was the clear cut Cy Young winner since about mid August.
2) how was it a poor atempt? Verlander winning the Cy Young is as obvious as water being wet. I was making the only statement i could think of about it. I was considering throwing a “how does Lackey not get a single vote” onto it but then it would have taken away from the subtley of it.

Okay, I’ll retract my mocking of your opinion. However… seriously? I know sarcasm is a little tougher to get across without intonation, but that was a particularly poor attempt.

It also doesn’t make much sense to mock fact-less attacks on players from other teams when you do that yourself quite often.

Who in the world can argue with Verlander? One vote for second place? Makes NO sense.

It’s possible to make an argument for Sabathia, but not many, especially writers, will take it seriously. Sabathia faced something like the 3rd toughest set of hitters by OPS+ while Verlander faced the 5th easiest. Sabathia had a better fWAR than Verlander, as well as xFIP and FIP.

Verlander had a phenomenal season, of course. He won the pitching triple crown, leading the league in wins (24), ERA (2.40) and strikeouts (250). He also led the league in winning percentage (.828) starts (34), innings (251), WHIP (.920) and hits allowed per nine innings (6.2).

Leading the league in most offensive categories including nose hair…

also, random comment. Anyone else having trouble viewing HBT on Chrome? It seems to lock up on me all the time now, but not having any issues in firefox. Anyone else or am I just suffering from a severe case of PEBKAC syndrome?

Tough to sort out the next group of starters beyond Verlander. I wouldn’t have placed Valverde so high, but yeah, there’s not a lot of down ballot stuff to complain about.
