Chavez is welcome back @ YankeeStadium in 2012. His #’s do not give a correct impression of the job (though small) he did. When A-rod is out with his usual problems, it’s nice to have a really good glove at 3rd base, and his batting ‘eye’ challenges pitchers.
A NewYork tried&true (fragile) player to back-up at 3rd, or to PH or DH in certain situations “on the cheap” is exactly what the Yankees need.

Someone who knows how to run a staircase chairlift would be a good fit for the Twins, not to mention the Feesh and Mariners. It’s a great way to get from the basement to the kitchen.

That is a seperate, longer conversation, but I take the position that montero’s greatest value is as a catcher who can hit the cover off the ball so that they can ALSO have a full time DH.

Martin is perfect for next year, but I home they split catching duties with him and montero so that by ’13 montero can catch full time.

And that scenario leaves the Yanks with an opening at DH. But they don’t plan on signing one, they are just going to rotate players in there as needed.

Call me crazy, but I think if you are allowed to have a DH then you should have an Edgar Martine

He could be a fit for the Twins if the glove still works. Valencia is not exactly a sure-thing at 3B and Morneau has got a lot of issues between the concussions, the neck, the wrist, being from Canada, etc…

Some help at the corners could be a nice addition, especially if they lose Cuddyer and want to replace his veteran-ness

I agree with the previous posts, bring Chavez back. He is good off the bench and backup third baseman.

The Yanks should re-sign him…..for his bat and for his glove. There is no way Arod can play third base for a full season. Chavez is still a great fielder and is a very tough out. He may have lost some power but he always gets the bat on the ball.

Well the Yankees have already said they liked him and were just waiting on him to make a decision on whether or not he was going to retire. Would love to see him back in Yankee Pinstripes in 2012.

I would be happy if the Yanks brought him back as a lefty off the bench and back up third basement even though they have nunez. Weird playoff pinch hitting appearances aside I liked him last year and he got some clutch hits. It’s really all about pitching and a full time DH, which for some reason the Yanks don’t think they need.
