I felt the deal to bring Rolen here was a good one. he did very well his first year, but of course the guy is a great talent with serious injury problems. His back and now his shoulder will never respond permanently to treatment, and will nag him for ever. Probably the injuries are career enders. The deals for Edmonds and Rent-a-Wreck probably not great ones. What is needed now is a good reliable 3rd base who can field (nobody can be Rolen), and an everyday outfielder like Bruce has been. They are relying on Stubbs in center, but need a guy in left. Maybe Heisey. They may have that in house, but the big problem is the staff. They are good at times, and then lousy.

Well, you know this guy is supposed to be a fan. He doesn't even know what the problems have been just this past season. Why can't people think about what they are saying if it is obviously so contrary? On top of that, there is very little logic here, just his wishes as a true HOMER. Just saying.

the reds can't afford to resign phillips because walt is saving money to sign washed up ex-cards. I hear he trying to talk ozzy smith out of retirement. and the reds do not need another outfielder. they need to make Heisey or alonso the left fielder and stick with them. why they would go with gomes as long as they did and not give Heisey a legit shot is beyond belief. their biggest problem is dusty changing the line up every day. name another manager that if a guy hits 3 homers in a game will not play him for the next week? as for third base rolen is done so make fransisco the starter and rolen back up. and while hiring someone just because they are from dayton may not be a good idea baker is just a terrible manager and needs to be gone for the reds to improve. they won inspite of him in '10 and he showed that he could not manage his way out of a paper bag last year. I would rather they not sign anybody this off season than give baker washed up vets to play ahead of the younger talent the reds have. given the choice between cozart and renteria you know he would play ahead of the young kid because he is a veteran. and for you eager to get rid of votto for another mid rotation guys you are nuts. if they trade him they better get a king felix or another ace to anchor the rotation instead of some prospects who will not pan out or have their arm blow out under dusty.

You are partly correct. After resign Brandon, all else is crap. I would like to get rid of Dusty too, but he is not the biggest problem the Reds have. They need an everyday outfielder, and someone who can play defense at third base, and shore up the P staff. But hire Schmidt because he is from Dayton? Crazy! didn't Marge hire Pete because he was from Cinti? How did that work out? Didn't she let sweet Lou go because she wanted to hire her FRIEND Ray Knight, to whom she promised the job? How did that work out? Learn about the game, and don't pretend that you know as much as Walt!

"Also, we need a Left outfielder"

By that do you mean someone to play left field? Or just a left-handed outfielder?

BTW, can my uncle be bench coach? He is from Toledo....

Walt:

Quick screwing around. Brandon is one of our core players/leaders. Get rid of the tooth pick manager. Hire Mike Schmidt, he's from Dayton. Also, we need a Left outfielder and a third baseman with a bat. Or it's another crappy frustrating year. Trade one of our minor league catchers for a right hand bat/ 3B or LF.
