Things are worse than the numbers indicate. He started with good batting average but no power. After about swix weeks his average started dropping. He couldn’t touch left handers. If he had not been platooned, I think his numbers would have been worse.

Beginning to look like one more defeat for Ed Wade.

Wallace always hit well in the minors…but his power has absolutely evaporated. In over 500 career MLB plate appearances, he hit just 7 home runs. He went deep just 6 times in over 500 PA’s in 2011 between MLB and AAA. He strikes out way to much to maintain a high batting average at this level without power. And powerless .250 hitting 1st baseman aren’t a terribly hot commodity. He’s only 25 and things could turn around…but he is sadly looking like a failed prospect.

And why did Ed Wade trade Anthony Gose for him? The Cards, A’s, and Jays had already taken a pass.
