From first base coach to bench coach is still a lateral move which is counter to Toronto’s new policy. They only allowed him to interview for the Manager’s position.

But at the same time, I doubt the Jays would stand in his way. It’s not a Farrell-type situation. First-base coach to bench coach is a definite upwards move.
