The yankees would have no say if/when he gets surgery. All he has to do is threaten the “r” word every yankees fan, and presumably everyone associated worth the team, dreads the mere thought of him saying.

People, it’s of the utmost importance for Rivera to have his voice. That way the balls can hear him over the crowd noise when he tells them how hard to cut and when.

Ironic that one of the few NYC athletes who doesn’t abuse his vocal cords with self-promotion or trash talk needs this sort of surgery. I don’t wish this on anyone, but it would probably seem more appropriate if it were on Rex Ryan.

biz – if it’s elective surgery which this sounds like it is. I would presume the Yankees Management has quite a bit to say about when he would/should have it.

And since Aaron (the article writer) probably has no medical degree and no specific knowledge of the specifics involved his presumption I’m willing to bet is no more than a guess.

Aaron, nothing personal. But as Utley’s Hair said/implied biz should be more careful next time before he criticizes someone.

Mariano is a karaoke junkie. Word on the streets is he absolutely shredded it with his rendition of Blue (da ba de) in a quaint little Filipino bar/restaurant, where Manny Pacquiao is also believed to have laid down some karaoke thunder once upon a time. But the combined effects of the humid air, tequila shots and patented Mo “da be de” chorus was too much for his vocal chords to withstand. He’ll be back.

If I’m the Yankees management I make him wait until after the 2012 season. He’s probably the one Yankee they can least afford to have out for any time regardless how short.
