And are the Orioles in the postion to take on a closer making almost 8 million bucks. The Rockies should wait to see who is left without a closer, might be able to get more for him at that point.

The only way Street makes sense for the Orioles is if they plan on trading him at the deadline. A prorated portion of $7.5MM for a couple (hopefully) of prospects might work. They don’t have many chips to deal.

That, and Betancourt’s demonstrated ability to close. Brothers won’t be going into 2012 as closer, but who knows by the end of the year.
