Tweet of the Day: Matt Kemp just wants to party

Nov 22, 2011, 3:48 PM EDT

Matt Kemp doesn’t seem too broken up about finishing runner-up to Ryan Braun in the MVP voting:

I guess he has 180 million reasons not to be too broken up…

      Isn’t it $160?

      • Utley's Hair - Nov 22, 2011 at 5:22 PM

        What’s $20 million between friends?

      • seattlej - Nov 22, 2011 at 5:24 PM

        Yep. My mistake.

      • marshmallowsnake - Nov 22, 2011 at 5:28 PM

        I would love $20 million!

What an idiot posting something like that on Twitter. If you want to know where the party is at- just call Pat Burrell- odds are, he’s already there.

    • JBerardi - Nov 22, 2011 at 4:48 PM

Yeah, no one likes good sportsmanship or partying. Wait, what?

    Good form!

Kemp will get plenty of MVPs in the future when the Dodgers improve as a team. Braun will always be a competitor, along with Pujols, but I think he’ll probably win at least 5 over the next 8 years of his contract.

    • phukyouk - Nov 22, 2011 at 4:25 PM

im sorry… you think that over the next 8 years Kemp will win 5 MVPs?

      • Utley's Hair - Nov 22, 2011 at 5:37 PM

The way that was written, it could mean either Kemp, Braun or Pujols could win five of the next eight MVPs—which is a bit of an odd breakdown as it is.

    • paperlions - Nov 22, 2011 at 5:15 PM

I think he’ll be lucky to win one. If he isn’t given the MVP after this year, a year he is pretty unlikely to repeat, when will he be good enough and on a good enough team to get this much MVP attention again?

This is exactly how these “awards” should be looked at. Take it like a grain of salt. It’s funny that Kemp takes it better than some posters here do, as if the award has some deep meaning…. To them. The BBWAA has proven the awards that they’ve devised aren’t even worth their own effort to get it right. So why should anyone else get all worked up about the results?

  6. sabathiawouldbegoodattheeighthtoo - Nov 22, 2011 at 4:21 PM

Did Michael Young send one of these to Verlander?

    • phukyouk - Nov 22, 2011 at 4:27 PM

no. before he had a chance to pull it off twitter i got a look at it.

“Yo JV! thanks for keeping my award warm until i can pick it up”

    • bossplayer213 - Nov 22, 2011 at 6:16 PM

Please tell me you’re not implying that Michael Young should have won MVP?

      Lord help us.
