If you think government bureaucrats are overpaid, and you cut their salaries (or freeze them), you get stupider bureaucrats. I wouldn’t be shocked to hear that Miami-Dade has lousy lawyers, would you? How much more do the Marlins pay their lawyers than Miami-Dade does? Which group do YOU think is more competent?

This is just spectacularly bad lawyering by the city. I’m an attorney for a leasing company and it is standard practice to have the lessee pay any and all taxes. How they could let the Marlins write the provision making the city responsible for the taxes is beyond me.

They don’t, really. Housewives and princesses are too busy texting or applying mascara, and male drivers from a large unnamed island to the south are too busy cutting off other would be drivers, speeding, weaving and shooting birds at anyone who objects. True story: bumper sticker popular in Macondo after the hanging chad fiasco of the 2000 electoral theft: “If you don’t how we vote, wait till you see us drive.”

The Miami taxpayers should be happy they aren’t in California when they voted for high speed rail. After the voters approved the HSR the estimated cost tripled to almost 100 billion. And the 100 billion is on the low end of estimates. For today. I’m sure by the time they actually get around to laying tracks the cost estimates will go up again.

First off they built the dam place in a run down part of town and the stadium, which looks like a spaceship just landed, fits in like a sore thumb. If they built it in another area you wouldn’t need indoor parking garages to keep your car safe. It’s going to be a lot fun getting out of an indoor garage after games. But it doesn’t matter the Marlins are going to sign Pujos and Reyes. LOL

They still have Metrorail, just as you remember it: crumpled copies of the Feeshwrapper under the seats, discarded coffee cups and paper plates, balled-up Burger King sodium bomb breakfast sandwich wrappers, the aphaisic in the trenchcoat half-asleep and mumbling in the handicapped seat – just as you left it. Except the new spur to the airport opens in the Spring. That’s, what, three new miles of track in thirty five years or so? Metrorail – speeding Macondo into the twentieth century!
