I used to work at a bank and this is a common scheme that forgets are running now. They’ll look on craigs list or eBay and write a check for too much and ask for the difference in return. It’s obviously a scam but some people are so desperate that they’ll try anything at this point. Times are tough and what not. But for future reference if this ever happens to you don’t cash the check it’s a fake.
