The Tigers are interested in Mark Buehrle

According to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News, the Tigers have made inquiries to Mark Buehrle.  Watch as Henning sets phasers to “every Mark Buehrle cliche you’ve ever heard”:

The Tigers aren’t talking about Buehrle, although it’s known they have been one of many clubs inquiring what it might take to sign the fast-working, strikes-throwing, innings-gulping, finesse left-hander who is [Kenny] Rogers’ virtual clone in style and consistency.

The funny thing about all of the Buehrle reports: each time a Buehrle rumor is mentioned, it is said “but there are so many teams interested in him that the price may get too rich for [latest rumored suitor].”  Which sort of reminds me of that Yogi Berra line about the restaurant:  “No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.”

Someone’s gonna sign him, right?

Instead of CJ Wilson, this might be Cashman’s little surprise. And a better decision it would be.

As a Red Sox fan, I hope the Yankees sign as many clones of Kenny Rogers as possible. At a minimum, the entire rotation and bullpen should be Kenny. But why not see if he can hit, too?

Talking in cliches is all Lynn Henning knows. He buzzes like a fridge. He’s like a detuned radio. Or something.

Well, the Feesh got off easy if it’s true Pujols is staying in St. Louis. But they have a big offer out there for Buehrle (not as big as others, but big enough so that Scrooge McLoria is probably sitting up in bed nights, nervously unsnapping and snapping and unsnapping the snaps on the toes of his Pooh pajamas waiting for the battery of his Fisher Wallace Stimulator to recharge so he can go back to sleep and stop worrying that one of these guys is actually going to accept one of his offers).
