Huh? Which spot in the lineup doesn't require a guy to get on base as much as possible and to make solid contact as often as possible? The "guys use different approaches in different lineup spots" is a myth....and if guys do use anything other than the optimal approach (i.e. trying to get on base, controlling the strike zone, hitting the ball hard) because of where they are in the lineup...then they are morons.

whatever it takes as long as they get it done. he is one of the best players they and it took him not the toothpick to put him as leadoff guy where he flourished. spare me your stats breakdown as he was asked to bat anywhere from second to cleanup during the season. each one requires a different approach especially cleanup where he was expected to drive in runs not worry about stealing bases or average.
